How to care for Aralia Big Leaf Variegated

Soil: Use peat-based, well-aerated, light soil to grow Aralia plants. This type of soil is quick draining and prevents water from accumulating that might cause root rot.

Pot Size: Use smaller pots to root-bound your Aralia Plants. In smaller pots soil dries out faster and prevents over- watering. Unlike other houseplants, in case of Aralia, a big plant can be grown in a small pot.

Potting/Transplanting: The pot selected must have proper drainage holes. To prevent water logging, cover the drainage holes by broken pieces of earthen pots or brick pieces before putting the soil. Transplant the Aralia sapling in a pot along with root-ball of original soil. Carefully place the plant in the middle of the pot & cover the roots completely with remaining soil.

Repotting: Repotting of Aralia plant should be done every year; especially when the plant has grown too big, has extra root bound, over-sized as compared to the old pot.

Sunlight: Aralia Plants need full shade to filtered sun. It is necessary to protect then from hot sun.

Water:Too much water, results root rot and Aralia Plants die. Before watering allow the top 50% of the soil to dry out. In low light conditions, water an Aralia Plant once a week in winters & twice a week in summers.

Fertiliser: Feed an Aralia Plant with very little fertilizer. When it’s actively growing supply it with a plant food high in nitrogen and at 1/2 the recommended strength.

Temperature: Recommended temperature range for is between 25-35 degree celsius.

Humidity: High humidity fosters growth of Aralia Plants. Dry air, due to low humidity, results in dropping.
