Plant Essentials
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant:Every 2 weeks, feed the Kalanchoe with a 19:19:19 fertiliser. However, make sure you don’t overfeed her. Repotting : Kalanchoe plants need good aeration and will grow best in pots with proper drainage holes, and a well-draining soil mix. These plants grow slowly and will not require repotting often. Repot once a year, preferably in late February or early March in fresh potting mix for better growth. Also prune for a bushier appearance. Propagation : Propagate Kalanchoe through stem cuttings.
Common Problems
1. Why is my Kalanchoe dying? Overwatering the Kalanchoe causes the roots to rot and the plants to die. 2. How to know if I am overwatering my Kalanchoe? If the soil stays wet for a long time and the plant doesn’t seem to be soaking up any water, that means that the roots are dying because of overwatering. 3. Why is my Kalanchoe wilting? If you haven’t been watering the Kalanchoe regularly then she dries up and as an indication of thirst she begins to wilt and die.
Style and Décor
Light Requirements :Kalanchoe requires bright indirect sunlight. Locations :Kalanchoe red should be kept in places such as windowsills where they receive direct sunlight for at least 4 to 5 hours daily. Styling/décor tip :Place them in the sunny corners of your living room, kitchen window or windowsills. They can also be used as dining table centre pieces on occasions when planted in beautiful planters. They also look great in railing planters and add colour to balcony gardens without taking up too much space. They are also great additions to work table that receive partial sunlight.
