All the plant gossip, through the grapevine. Pun intended

Plants growing in containers need more fertilizing than those in the ground. The more you water, the more quickly you flush the nutrients out of the soil.

Plant Essentials

Fertilizer/ feed for the plant:From spring to fall (growing season) your Peperomia needs a well balanced fertiliser every two weeks diluted to half strength. In winters feed your plant once in six weeks.
Repotting : Repot your Peperomia as soon as spring sets in to refresh the soil. Peperomia loves being root bound, so keep the pot size small.
Propogation : Peperomias are one of the easiest plants to propagate and can be easily turned into new plants by both stem and leaf cuttings.

Common Problems

1. Why are my Peperomia leaves drooping?
Various reasons can cause drooping of leaves in Peperomia. Sudden drop in temperature, exposure to draughts or spells of overwatering can cause drooping of leaves. First try to find out the actual cause and then change the position of your plant to adjust light and temperature and then change the watering schedule accordingly.
2. Why are my peperomia leaves are curling?
Curling of peperomia leaves is not very common and more often than not it can be attributed to nutrient deficiency or bugs.
3. Why is there a white patch on my Peperomia leaves and stem?
White patches on peperomia leaves are caused by mealy bug infestation. Isolate your plant and remove these mealy bugs by hand, using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Follow it up by washing the entire plant under water to dislodge any stragglers and let the water drain completely in a bright area; the next day spray neem oil solution to prevent the bugs from coming back. Repeat this weekly for the next 2-3 weeks depending on the level of infestation.

Style and Decor

Light Requirements :Peperomias need bright and indirect sunlight most times of the year in order to thrive.
Locations :An East or North facing window with bright indirect sunlight is ideal for the Peperomia. You need to ensure that your plant isn't facing direct sunlight, especially during summers or during afternoon peak sun, as it can cause your leaves to burn.
Styling/decor tip :Peperomias are attractive plants with distinct crinkly green foliage. Place peperomias on your living room tables as a centre piece to instantly add some colour and texture to it. They are also excellent office desk plants. Creating a collection of different types of peperomias on corner tables is also a great idea to add interest. To get a boho-chic vibe, add your peperomias to macrame planters and jute planters.
