Get your plants ready to slay!
All the plant gossip, through the grapevine. Pun intended
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant:Both the plants in the bundle are foliage plants and will do well with any generic garden fertiliser, such as NPK (19:19:19), given to the roots once every three weeks as per the dosage advised on the pack. The plants also do well with a foliar spray of NPK (19:19:19) every two to three weeks.
Repotting : The Rubber Plant is a long-lasting but slow growing plant that loves to be root bound and will not need frequent repotting, however changing its potting mix annually will give it fresh medium to grow in and repot once the roots start showing. The Aglaonema on the other hand is a fast grower and would require annual repotting in a slightly larger pot with a rich but well-draining potting mix.
Propogation : The Rubber plant can be propagated through stem cuttings. The Aglaonema can be propagated through division of the mother plant at maturity or through stem cuttings from the top with at least 4 to 5 top leaves
One of the major cause of low growth is insufficient light or less fertilisation. Give your plants adequate light and fertilise as advised for better growth.
Leaf dropping of rubber plant
Rubber plant is a tropical hardy plant that loves both moisture and light. Leaf dropping can be a sign of both inadequate lighting and irregular watering. Set a watering schedule and water regularly, don’t let the soil get too dry in between watering.
Gray cast on Aglaonema
The Aglaonema develop a grey cast due to extremely cold temperatures. Keep them indoors in winters and out of the way of direct drafts. The change in lighting also changes the variegations with season.
Light Requirements :While the rubber plant needs bright indirect light for a good growth, the Aglaonema can live easily in medium to low light. Avoid strong direct sunlight for both the plants.
Locations :These air purifying plants are great additions to all corners of your home. Add it to your bedrooms or workspace for cleaner air. They are excellent in any space that gets bright indirect light, like near windows or doors.
