    Product Details

Doob Grass is a hardy, fast-spreading lawn grass. It's the most common choice for Indian lawns and gardens. Tough, low-maintenance, and quick to establish.

    • Forms a dense, soft, green carpet that handles heavy foot traffic well
    • One of the most heat and drought-tolerant lawn grasses available
    • Great for home lawns, garden borders, and open outdoor spaces
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Potting Mix, mixed into topsoil, for chemical-free lawns all season long
    Sowing
    • Scatter seeds evenly over prepared, loosened soil. Don't sow too deep - just press seeds lightly into the surface.
    • Best time to sow: March to July. This avoids frost and lines up with the warm growing season.
    • Keep the area consistently moist during this time. Cover lightly with a thin layer of soil or mulch if needed.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 7–14 days.
    • Keep the soil surface moist at all times during this period.
    • Water lightly, 2–3 times a day if needed.
    • Once sprouts appear, continue light, frequent watering until grass is established.
    Growing
    • Needs direct sun, at least 5–6 hours daily. Tolerates partial shade but grows best in full sun.
    • Water regularly to keep soil moist, especially in the first month. Once established, it's fairly drought-tolerant.
    • Ensure the area has good drainage. Doob grass doesn't like waterlogged soil.
    • Mow regularly once the grass reaches 5–6 cm, keeping it at around 2–3 cm height.
    • Feed with Ugaoo's cow manure or compost every 30–45 days. Use Ugaoo's neem cake to keep pests away.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Don't let grass grow too tall between mowings. It becomes patchy and weak.
    • Thinning patches or bare spots signal it's time to reseed or top-dress with fresh soil.
    • Extreme cold can turn the lawn brown and dormant in winter.
    • Growth resumes on its own once warmer temperatures return in spring.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Doob grass good for a lawn?

Bermuda grass, or Doob grass, is a resilient and dependable choice for lawns in India. It’s well-suited to hot, sunny climates, coping easily with drought and limited water availability. Its adaptability to different soil types, including high salinity soils, adds to its appeal!

How can I make my carpet grass grow faster?

Want lush, fast-growing carpet grass? Just follow a few simple steps! Water deeply but less frequently to encourage strong root growth. Feed your lawn with a balanced fertilizer (like NPK 16-4-8 or 19-6-10) to give it the nutrients it needs to thrive. Regular mowing is key—but don’t cut more than 1/3 of the blade at a time to keep your grass healthy and weeds at bay. With the right care, your carpet grass will be greener and thicker in no time!

    Can we eat Doob grass?

Doob grass may not be a common food, but it’s a powerhouse in Ayurveda! When taken as a paste or juice, it’s known to support digestion, ease constipation, and reduce acidity. It’s also believed to help regulate blood sugar levels and promote relaxation. Just a little goes a long way—moderation is the secret to making the most of its benefits!

What is the best month to plant Grass seed?

For the best results, timing is everything when planting grass seeds! Late March to early April is ideal since warm soil helps seeds germinate quickly and grow strong. Planting in early spring gives your grass plenty of time to establish before the summer heat kicks in, reducing stress from drought and high temperatures. With the right start, you’ll have a lush, healthy lawn in no time!
