FAQs
How do you germinate spinach seeds quickly?
To speed up spinach seed germination, soak your Malabar Spinach seeds in water for 12–24 hours before planting—this softens the seed coat and gives them a head start. Start them in a cool (15–20°C), well-draining medium like Coco Peat, keep them consistently damp, and in just 6-8 days, you'll see them sprout! Quick tip: don’t plant too deep—just ½ inch is perfect!
How long to soak Malabar spinach seeds?
Soak Malabar spinach seeds for 24 hours in warm water to soften their hard seed coat and boost germination. These tropical climbers can be a bit slow to sprout, so a good soak gives them the head start they need. After soaking, plant in warm, moist soil and watch the magic begin in just 6-8 days!
What makes spinach grow faster?
To make your Spinach grow faster, give it cool weather, rich, well-draining soil, and consistent moisture. Add a boost of organic fertilizers like Cow Manure or Vermicompost to fuel leafy growth. Remember—sow seeds in full sun to light shade, and don’t overcrowd—space is key! Harvest baby leaves early, and the plant will keep rewarding you with fresh, fast-growing greens!
What is the germination time of saag seeds?
Poi saag (Malabar spinach) seeds usually germinate in 6-10 days but can take a little longer sometimes. They’re a bit slow to wake up, so soaking the seeds in warm water for 24 hours before planting helps. Sow them in cool, moist soil that is perfectly balanced with a mix of perlite, coco peat, cow manure, and garden soil. This will help ensure perfect drainage and aeration, allowing the seeds more space to sprout and grow! Patience pays off—your lush, leafy climbers are on their way!
Can we eat Malabar spinach seeds?
Malabar spinach seeds aren’t commonly eaten, but they’re not toxic. However, they’re mainly used for planting or natural dyeing rather than snacking. The berries that contain the seeds produce a beautiful purple dye! For eating, stick to the tender, juicy leaves and stems—that’s where all the deliciousness lives!
