    Product Details

Pansies are the face of every winter garden - cheerful, velvety blooms in every colour you can imagine. One of the most beloved cool-season flowers for Indian balconies and gardens.

    • Distinctive velvety blooms with charming face-like patterns in a wide mix of colours.
    • Edible flowers that can be used fresh as a colourful garnish.
    • Cool-season beauties that thrive through Indian winters.
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Potting Mix, cheerful blooms all winter long.
    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray. We recommend Ugaoo's Potting Mix for better results.
    • Cover the tray with a dark cloth or lid - pansy seeds germinate better in darkness.
    • Best time to sow: August to November, ahead of the cool season.
    • During this time, keep in a cool spot. Pansy seeds need temperatures below 20°C to germinate well.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 10–14 days.
    • Keep soil moist and the tray covered in darkness until sprouts appear.
    • Once sprouts show, remove the cover and move gradually to bright light, then direct morning sun.
    Transplanting
    • Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 3–4 true leaves, usually after 20–25 days.
    • We suggest transplanting into a pot or garden bed (at least 20 cm deep) with Ugaoo's Potting Mix.
    • Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day.
    • Water well after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 2 days.
    Growing
    • Needs 4–5 hours of sunlight daily. Pansies tolerate partial shade well.
    • Water at the base when the topsoil feels dry. Avoid wetting the flowers.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 15–20 cm apart.
    • Feed with cow manure every 20 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    • Deadhead spent flowers regularly - the more you remove, the more it blooms.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Pansies decline as temperatures rise from February. Enjoy them through the cool season.
    • Once the plant gets leggy and flowering slows, pull it out.
    • Pansies are annuals in India. Sow fresh seeds again from August the following year.
    Harvesting
    • Flowers bloom in 70–90 days from sowing.
    • Cut flowers in the morning for the freshest look and longest vase life.
    • Deadhead spent flowers regularly to keep new blooms coming.

    Frequently asked questions

In which month are Pansy seeds sown?

Pansy seeds love the cool vibes! In India, the best time to sow them is between September and October. This gives them enough time to grow and bloom beautifully through the winter months. So, plant them just as the weather starts to cool, and get ready for a garden full of cheerful, smiling faces!

What is the best fertilizer for Pansies?

Pansies love a gentle boost! A balanced fertilizer like Ugaoo's Epsom Salt works best to encourage vibrant blooms. Feed them every couple of weeks, but don’t overdo it—happy pansies prefer light, regular meals. Think of it as giving your flowers a little treat, not a feast!

How long do Pansy seeds take to germinate?

Pansy seeds usually take 7 to 14 days to germinate, and they like it cool and cozy! Starting them in Coco Peat? Keep the medium moist at all times and place the seeds in a shaded spot until they sprout. Once they germinate, move them into the light. When you finally notice at least two true leaves after sprouting, that's when you transplant your seeds into soil outdoors or in planters!

What type of soil is best for Pansies?

Pansies thrive in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil—and Ugaoo’s Pot-O-Mix is their dream home! It’s a perfect blend of 11 essential ingredients like perlite, coco peat, cow manure, and more. Light, fluffy, and full of goodness, it gives your pansies the ideal start for blooming big and bright!
