    Product Details

    Tomato is one of the most popular and versatile vegetables to grow at home. A rewarding addition to any Indian kitchen garden.

    • Rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants like lycopene
    • One of the easiest ways to add fresh, homegrown flavour to your daily cooking
    • Toss it into curries, salads, chutneys, or use it as the base for everyday sabzi
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Veggie Mix Soil, chemical-free tomatoes all season long
    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep in a seedling tray. Use Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: July to October, avoiding frost and peak summer heat.
    • During this time, keep it indoors in low light and maintain good humidity.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 5–8 days.
    • Keep soil moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.
    Transplanting
    • Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 3–4 true leaves, usually after 20–25 days.
    • Transplant into a larger pot or grow bag (at least 35-40cm deep) with well draining soil mix.
    • Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day to reduce transplant shock.
    • Water well immediately after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 2–3 days before moving to full sun.
    • Provide a stake, cage or Ugaoo's Hardwood Support Sticks at the time of transplanting to support the plant as it grows.
    Growing
    • Needs direct sun, at least 6–8 hours daily.
    • Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Soil should be well-draining.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 45–60 cm apart, rows 60–75 cm apart.
    • Feed with Ugaoo's cow manure every 25 days. Use Ugaoo's neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    • Tie the main stem to the support as it grows, and pinch off the small side shoots that form between the main stem and branches for better fruiting.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Don't let ripe fruits sit too long on the plant. They can split, over-ripen, or attract pests.
    • Reduced flowering and smaller fruit size signal the plant is nearing the end of its cycle.
    • Extreme heat from April onwards can stress the plant and reduce fruiting.
    • Once the plant stops producing well, pull it out and sow fresh next season.
    Harvesting
    • Fruits are ready for harvest in 70–85 days from transplanting.
    • Harvest when fruits turn fully red or orange and come off easily with a gentle twist.
    • Pick regularly - the more you harvest, the more the plant continues to fruit.
    • A healthy plant can keep fruiting for several months under good conditions.
