    Product Details

Aster Mix is a classic cool-season flower that brings vibrant, daisy-like blooms to Indian gardens through the winter months. Wonderful for festive occasions, pots, and cut flowers.

    • Bright blooms in pink, purple, red, white, and blue with a cheerful daisy form.
    • Long flowering season through the cool months; great for festive décor.
    • Excellent as cut flowers with a long vase life.
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Potting Mix, chemical-free blooms all season long.
    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray. Seeds are fine; sow sparingly.
    • Use Ugaoo's Potting Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: August to November, before the cool season.
    • Keep it in a cool, dark spot and maintain good humidity. Cover the top if needed.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 8–14 days.
    • Keep soil moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a spot with bright indirect light, then gradually to direct sun.
    Transplanting
    • Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 3–4 true leaves, usually after 20–25 days.
    • Transplant into a pot or garden bed (at least 20 cm deep) with Ugaoo's Potting Mix.
    • Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day to reduce transplant shock.
    • Water well after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 2 days before moving to its final spot.
    Growing
    • Needs 5–6 hours of direct sun daily.
    • Water regularly at the base, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. Avoid wetting the leaves.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 25–30 cm apart, rows 30 cm apart.
    • Feed with cow manure every 20 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    • Pinch the growing tip early on to encourage bushier growth and more blooms.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Reduced flowering and weaker stems signal the plant is nearing the end of its cycle.
    • Extreme heat from March onwards causes the plant to decline quickly.
    • Once flowering slows significantly, pull the plant out and sow fresh seeds for the next cool season.
    Harvesting
    • Flowers bloom in 60–90 days.
    • Cut flowers in the cool morning hours for the best vase life, snipping just above a leaf node.
    • Remove dried flowers regularly to encourage the plant to keep producing new blooms.
    • A healthy plant can flower continuously for 6–8 weeks.

    Frequently asked questions

Can you grow Aster from seed?

Absolutely! Growing Asters from seed is easy and super rewarding. Starting the seeds in your garden? Sow them in a well-draining medium like Ugaoo's Coco Peat, keep them moist, and give them plenty of sunlight. Within 7-21 days, you’ll see tiny green sprouts that will soon transform into a riot of colorful blooms. Patience is key—Asters take time, but the floral fireworks are so worth it!

When to sow Aster seeds in India?

In India, the best time to sow Aster flower seeds is during the cooler months—July to September for winter blooms and February to March for summer blooms. Asters love mild temperatures, so avoid extreme heat or frost. Plant them at the right time, and you’ll have a garden bursting with vibrant, daisy-like flowers in no time!

What is the flowering time of Aster?

Asters put on their floral show from late summer to winter, typically blooming between September and February in India. These cheerful, daisy-like flowers love cool weather and bring a splash of color just when most gardens start to fade. With good care, they’ll keep blooming for weeks, making your garden a vibrant paradise!

Is Aster an annual or perennial?

Asters can be both! Some varieties, like China Asters, are annuals—blooming brilliantly for one season. Others, like New England or Michaelmas Asters, are perennials that return year after year with dazzling blooms. Whether you want a one-season wonder or a long-term floral friend, there’s an Aster for you!
