    Cassia Javanica, the Pink Shower Tree, is one of India's most spectacular flowering trees. Cascades of pink and white blooms that appear before the leaves; a breathtaking sight every flowering season.

    • A fast-growing tree that adapts well to India's warm, varied climate.

    Sowing
    • Scrape the seeds before sowing: nick the hard seed coat with a nail file, then soak in warm water for 24 hours. This step is essential - skip it and germination rates drop significantly.
    • Sow seeds 2–3 cm deep in a large nursery pot or grow bag. We recommend Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix mixed with garden soil for the best start.
    • Best time to sow: February to May, when the weather is warm.
    • Keep in a warm, bright spot and maintain consistent moisture.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 10–20 days after scarification and soaking.
    • Keep soil warm and moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to full direct sun.
    Transplanting
    • Once the seedling reaches 30–40 cm, transplant into a larger pot or directly into the ground.
    • Use a very large container or plant in a garden bed.
    • Handle the taproot carefully - Cassia has a sensitive root system.
    • Water well after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 3–5 days before full sun.
    Growing
    • Needs full direct sun, at least 6 hours daily.
    • Water every 2–3 days when young. Once established after the first year, it becomes drought tolerant.
    • Use a very large pot or plant directly in the ground - Cassia Javanica grows into a substantial tree.
    • Feed with cow manure every 20 days in the first year.
    • We suggest Ugaoo's Neem Oil Spray for pest control on young seedlings.
    • Allow the tree plenty of room - it can reach 10–15 metres at maturity.

    • Once established, it's largely self-sufficient and handles drought well.
    • Light pruning after flowering keeps the tree shapely and encourages more blooms the following season.
    Harvesting
    • The tree flowers from March to May in India, covering itself in spectacular pink and white blooms before leaves emerge.
    • Flowering begins from Year 3–5 from seed.
    • Seed pods form after flowering and dry on the tree. Collect dried pods to harvest seeds for re-sowing.
