    Dendrocalamus Strictus (Solid Bamboo / Kati Bans) is India's most economically important bamboo species, prized for its exceptionally hard, solid culms used in construction, crafts, and industry.

    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 1-2 cm deep in large nursery pots or bags. Bamboo seeds are best sown fresh.
    • We suggest well-draining fertile soil mixed with Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for a strong start.
    • Best time to sow: March to June, when temperatures are warm.
    • Keep soil consistently moist and in a warm spot during germination.

    • Seeds sprout in 15-30 days.

    • Once sprouts appear, maintain in a bright spot with some direct sun.
    Transplanting
    • Transplant carefully once seedlings reach 15-20 cm.
    • Handle the root ball gently; bamboo dislikes root disturbance.
    • Plant in large pots or open ground with space for the clump to expand.
    Growing
    • Needs direct sun, at least 5-6 hours daily.
    • Water consistently; bamboo dislikes drying out, especially when young.
    • Feed with cow manure or NPK fertiliser every 20 days during the growing season.

    • Don't harvest canes in the first year; let the plant establish a strong root system.
