The Zebra Haworthias are easy to care for succulents that thrive indoors in bright indirect light and require the least of attention. This tropical plant native to Central and South America is popular with plant lovers for its unique and striking leaf patterns that resemble the stripes on a Zebra.
Haworthia being a succulent can ideally go without water for weeks since it stores water in those plump fleshy leaves. That said, always check the soil before you water the plant and let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Winters would mean less watering than the summer season. Ensure that water isn't collected in the rosettes as it could lead to rot.
Yes, the Zebra Haworthias do bloom, but their flowers aren't as showy as other blooms. Usually white or pale pink these delicate flowers are tubular and grow on thin stalks called inflorescence that can grow up to 12 inches tall. Typically, spring and summer is their blooming season, but this can vary depending on their growing conditions and the plant's health. Just so you know - these plants are loved not for their flowers but for the striking foliage!
Too much sunlight is the culprit here! Haworthia prefer bright indirect or filtered light and if exposed to direct sun it can scorch the leaves. Move it to a spot where it isn't exposed to direct sunlight. Apart from this over-watering or improper drainage could result in brown leaves. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings and ensure the soil is well-draining.
They do survive in air conditioning since they adapt well to dry conditions and handle a variety of temperatures. That said, they need their fair share of light to survive so provide them with direct or filtered sunlight. Remember to not keep them in the direct line of your AC vents and they are good to go for years to come!
