    Product Details

Coriander is a fast-growing, aromatic herb. It's a staple in Indian home gardens. Easy to grow, and even easier to use fresh from the pot.

    • Rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, and antioxidants
    • One of the easiest herbs to keep fresh at home, all year round
    • Toss it into chutneys, curries, salads, or garnish your everyday dal and sabji
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Veggie Mix Soil, chemical-free coriander whenever you need it
    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 1–1.5 cm deep directly in the pot. Lightly crush the seeds before sowing to speed up germination. Use Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: October to March, avoiding peak summer heat.
    • During this time, keep it in a dark spot but away from harsh direct sun. Maintain good humidity.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 10–12 days.
    • Keep soil moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.
    Growing
    • Needs 4–5 hours of sunlight daily; partial shade is fine in warmer months.
    • Water with a gentle spray every alternate day, and let the soil drain well.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 5–8 cm apart, rows 15–20 cm apart.
    • Feed with Ugaoo's cow manure every 25 days. Use Ugaoo's neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Don't let leaves sit too long on the plant. Older leaves turn bitter and less aromatic.
    • If a flower stalk appears in the centre, the plant is bolting. Harvest everything right away.
    • Warmer temperatures from April onwards trigger bolting.
    • Once the stalk appears, either let it seed for fresh coriander seeds, or pull the plant out and sow fresh next cool season.
    Harvesting
    • Leaves are ready for harvest in 30–45 days.
    • Cut outer leaves/stems near the base, leaving the centre to keep growing.
    • Harvest regularly, the more you prune, the more it produces.
    • You can harvest coriander for 2–3 cycles before it bolts and turns bitter.

    Frequently asked questions

Are there 2 types of Coriander?

Yes! Coriander comes in two main types—leafy coriander (Coriandrum sativum), the fragrant herb we love in chutneys and garnishes, and bolting coriander, which produces seeds used as a spice. Some varieties are grown for lush leaves, while others are prized for their flavorful seeds. Either way, it's a win-win for your kitchen and garden!

What is Coriander Seeds used for?

Coriander seeds are little flavor bombs! They add a warm, citrusy, and slightly nutty taste to curries, spice blends, pickles, and baked goods. You can dry-roast them for extra aroma or grind them into a powder for seasoning. Plus, they’re great for digestion—your spice rack’s secret superstar!

Do we need to crush Coriander seeds before planting?

Yes! Coriander seeds are two seeds in one shell. Gently crushing them before planting helps them split and sprout faster, leading to better germination. Pair this with a short soak, and you’ll have a thriving coriander patch in no time!

Should you soak coriander seeds before planting?

Yes! Soaking coriander seeds for 12-24 hours before planting gives them a head start by softening the outer shell, helping them germinate faster. For even better results, gently crush the seeds to split them in half before soaking. This simple trick means quicker sprouting and a thriving coriander patch! With good care, your Coriander seeds will germinate in 7-21 days!
