- Hand pollinate by transferring pollen from male to female flowers.
- Feed with cow manure every 15 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Once the main fruits are harvested, the vine may produce more smaller fruits.
- Once the plant stops producing well, pull the vine out.
- Monsoon flooding can stress the plant; ensure good drainage.
Harvesting
- Fruits are ready in 60-80 days.
- Harvest when the fruit feels firm and the skin has a waxy, pale green coating.
- Cut with 5-10 cm of stem attached using a sharp knife.
- Ash gourd stores well for weeks in a cool, dry place.
