Product Details
Spinach is a nutrient-packed leafy green. It's a favourite in Indian home gardens. Fast to grow and easy to care for.
- Rich in iron, protein, vitamins, and minerals
- One of the easiest ways to eat cleaner, every day
- Toss it into smoothies, salads, or your everyday dal and sabji
- Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Veggie Mix Soil, chemical-free spinach all year round
Approx. seeds per gram: 106
Sowing
- Sow the seeds 0.5–1 cm deep in a seedling tray. We recommend using Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix to give them the best start.
- The best time to sow is from October to November, just as winter begins.
- Keep the tray indoors in a bright spot with indirect light, and maintain good humidity until the seedlings emerge.
Germination
- Seeds sprout in 10–12 days.
- Keep soil moist during this period.
- Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.
Growing
- Once the seeds sprout, move them to a spot that gets plenty of direct sunlight.
- Water gently every day using a spray bottle, and keep the soil evenly moist with good drainage.
- We recommend using a pot with drainage holes to prevent excess water from collecting.
- Leave 8–10 cm between plants and 25–30 cm between rows so they have enough room to grow.
- Feed your spinach with Ugaoo's Cow Manure every 25 days. To help protect it from common pests, we also recommend using Ugaoo's Neem Cake and Neem Oil Spray regularly.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Harvest the leaves regularly, as older leaves can become bitter.
- If you see a flower stalk growing from the centre, harvest the whole plant straight away.
- As the weather warms up from February onwards, spinach naturally starts flowering.
- Once this happens, it's time to remove the plant and sow fresh seeds in the next cool season.
Harvesting
- You can start harvesting baby leaves in just 30–40 days.
- Snip the outer leaves close to the base and let the centre continue growing.
- Harvest regularly to encourage fresh, continuous growth.
- Spinach can be harvested for up to two growing cycles before the leaves begin to turn bitter.

Frequently asked questions
Do Spinach seeds need to be soaked?
Soaking spinach seeds isn’t a must, but it gives them a great head start! A quick 6–8 hour soak in warm water helps soften the seed coat, speeding up germination. Think of it as a mini spa session for your seeds—relaxing and totally worth it for quicker, healthier sprouts!
Can you grow Spinach from seeds?
Absolutely! Spinach seeds are super easy to grow and with good care, you will have a full harvest ready in just 30-40 days! The best part? These seeds do not demand a lot of time and attention, thriving with simple beginner-level care. Simply sow them in well-draining soil, let them bask in 6-8 hours of sunlight daily, and watch them sprout in only 6-8 days!
Can Spinach grow in pots?
Indeed! Spinach loves pots and planters—it's a perfect choice for container gardening. Simply make sure the pot is at least 6-8 inches deep, and fill it with well-draining soil. With a little sunshine and regular watering, you'll have a pot full of fresh, leafy greens ready to munch on in no time!
How many days does Spinach take to grow?
Spinach is a speedy grower! You’ll see tiny leaves pop up in just 7–10 days after sowing, and in about 30–40 days, it’s ready to harvest. Perfect for those times when you don't want to wait and want an instant harvest of fresh greens—just plant, water, wait (just a little), and enjoy your homegrown superfood!
