Product Details

The red shower tree or rose casssia is amedium sized tree that grows upto 15-2- feet high with dense green foliage. The tree gets heavily laden with crimson red flowers during spring time. Used extensively for afforestation and improving soil quality in degraded areas, it also improves soil water content and fixes soil nutrient level.

Sowing

Scrape seeds before sowing: nick the hard seed coat with a nail file, then soak in warm water for 24 hours. This step is essential for good germination.
Sow 2-3 cm deep in a large nursery pot or grow bag. We recommend Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix mixed with garden soil for a strong start.
Best time to sow: February to May, when the weather is warm.
Keep in a warm, bright spot and maintain consistent moisture.

Germination

Seeds sprout in 10-20 days after scarification and soaking.
Keep soil warm and moist during this period.
Once sprouts appear, move to full sun.

Growing

Needs full direct sun, at least 6 hours daily.
Water every 2-3 days when young. Once established after the first year, it is drought tolerant.
Feed with cow manure every 20 days in the first year.
We suggest Ugaoo's Neem Oil Spray for pest control on young seedlings.
Give the tree room to grow; it can reach 8-10 metres at maturity.

Aftercare & Post-Harvest

A perennial tree that rewards patience with better flowering every year.
Water consistently in the first 2 years to establish strong roots.
Prune lightly after flowering to shape the canopy.
Once established, it is largely self-sufficient.

Harvesting

Flowering begins 3-5 years from seed.
Long seed pods form after flowering and dry on the tree. Collect them for re-sowing.
