Product Details

More famous as spider flowers, cleome is an annual that reseeds every year to give you a grden full of white and purple blooms. Cleomes will grow in almost any part of your garden, provided the sol is well draining. They are best planted directly in to the container or flower beds, as transplanting saplings auccessfully takes expertise.
Number of seeds per gram (aprox): 485

Sowing

Sow seeds 0.25-0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray or directly in the pot. Cover lightly; seeds germinate better with some light.
We suggest Ugaoo's Potting Mix for better results.
Best time to sow: February to May, when the weather is warm.
During this time, keep in a warm, bright spot and maintain good humidity.

Germination

Seeds sprout in 10-14 days.
Keep soil moist during this period.
Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.

Growing

Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily.
Water when the topsoil feels dry. Cleome handles dry spells once established.
Use a pot with drainage holes.
Space plants 30-45 cm apart; plants can grow 90-120 cm tall.
Stake tall plants in windy spots.
Feed with cow manure every 20 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.

Aftercare & Post-Harvest

Cleome leaves are slightly sticky with a musky scent; that's normal.
Some stems carry small spines, so wear gloves while handling.
Cleome self-seeds easily. Remove seed pods if you don't want volunteers next season.
Once flowering stops, pull the plant out.

Harvesting

Flowers bloom in 70-90 days.
Cut stems in the morning when the top flowers are just opening, for the best vase life.
Remove spent flower heads to encourage more blooms.
A healthy plant keeps flowering for 8-10 weeks.

Grow it. From a seed

A tiny seed, your own hands, a little patience and it becomes something you can eat, smell, or simply admire. It's a small ritual in your own space that grows into something much bigger.
