Product Details
Romaine Lettuce is the crisp, upright salad green that holds its texture and flavour better than any other variety. Grows beautifully in Indian winters and looks as good as it tastes.
- Tall, upright heads with crisp outer leaves and a sweet tender heart.
- Rich in vitamin K, vitamin A, and folate.
- The go-to lettuce for Caesar salads, sandwich wraps, fresh bowls, and everyday salads.
- Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Veggie Mix Soil, chemical-free salad greens all winter long.
Approx. seeds per gram: 950
Sowing
- Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray. Seeds are very fine; sow sparingly and cover lightly.
- Use Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
- Best time to sow: October to November, at the start of the cool season.
- Keep it in a cool, bright spot and maintain good humidity.
Germination
- Seeds sprout in 7–10 days.
- Keep soil moist during this period.
- Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with indirect or gentle morning sun.
Transplanting
- Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 3–4 true leaves, usually after 20–25 days.
- Transplant into a pot or grow bag (at least 25 cm deep) with Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix.
- Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day to reduce transplant shock.
- Water well after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 1–2 days before moving to its final spot.
Growing
- Needs 4–5 hours of sunlight daily. Romaine tolerates partial shade well, making it good for shadier balconies.
- Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist. Do not let it dry out.
- Use a pot with drainage holes.
- Space plants 25–30 cm apart, rows 30 cm apart.
- Feed with cow manure every 15 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Romaine bolts quickly when temperatures rise. Harvest before February in most Indian regions.
- If a central stalk appears, harvest immediately. Bolted leaves turn bitter.
- Once the plant bolts, pull it out and sow fresh the following October.
- Sow in batches every 3–4 weeks from October to December for a continuous winter harvest.
Harvesting
- Heads are ready for harvest in 70–80 days.
- Harvest the whole head by cutting at the base with a sharp knife.
- Alternatively, harvest outer leaves as a cut-and-come-again from 30–40 days for a continuous supply.
- Harvest before the head bolts and sends up a central flower stalk.

Hello 👋
Could u plz tell me how to grow lettuce??
Is they need to grow??
These Seeds are magic, grew like light
I had ordered a pack of Romaine lettuce seeds last year and by mistake the packet of seeds tumbled onto the seedling tray when I opened it. Every single seed sprouted vigorously in a few days, and I was shocked at its profusion. I distributed the seedlings to my neighbours and friends from far and near and I used to be referred to as the Romaine man. This year, I was more careful in opening the packet. I tried out a small sample and I am happy to say that every single seed has sprouted. It is so fascinating to watch the tiny little plants standing proudly erect. I have to look for a place to transplant these little heroines!
Excellent germination !!!
