Product Details
Zinnia Double is a tall, vibrant annual known for its large, fully double blooms. A favourite for adding bold, long-lasting colour to Indian home gardens.
- Produces large, dense, multi-layered blooms in a mix of vivid shades - red, pink, orange, yellow, and purple
- A fast, rewarding flower for beginners and experienced gardeners alike
- Great for borders, pots, garden beds, and cut flower arrangements
- Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Potting Mix, chemical-free, flowering all season long
Number of seeds per gram (aprox): 159
Sowing
- Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep in a seedling tray. Use Ugaoo's Potting Mix (or Pot-o-Mix) for better results.
- Best time to sow: October to February, avoiding frost and peak summer heat.
- During this time, keep it indoors in low light and maintain good humidity.
Germination
- Seeds sprout in 4–7 days.
- Keep soil moist during this period.
- Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.
Transplanting
- Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 2–3 true leaves, usually after 15–20 days.
- Transplant into a pot or garden bed (at least 25 cm deep, given its taller growth) with well draining soil mix.
- Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day to reduce transplant shock.
- Water well immediately after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 1–2 days before moving to full sun.
Growing
- Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily.
- Water regularly at the base, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. Avoid wetting the leaves to prevent fungal issues.
- Use a pot with drainage holes.
- Space plants 25–30 cm apart, rows 30–35 cm apart.
- Feed with Ugaoo's cow manure every 25 days. Use Ugaoo's neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
- Provide support if needed, as taller stems can bend under the weight of large blooms.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Don't let spent flowers sit too long on the plant.
- Reduced flowering and weaker stems signal the plant is nearing the end of its cycle.
- Extreme heat or heavy rain can stress the plant and shorten its flowering period.
- Once flowering slows down significantly, pull the plant out and sow fresh for the next season.
Harvesting
- Flowers are ready for harvest/blooming in 55–65 days.
- Cut flowers in the cool morning hours for the best vase life, snipping just above a leaf node.
- Remove dried flowers regularly; this encourages the plant to keep producing new flowers.
- A healthy plant can keep flowering continuously for 2–3 months.

Frequently asked questions
What month is best to sow Zinnia seeds?
The best month to sow Zinnia seeds is from February to April when the weather starts warming up. Zinnias are total sun lovers, so give them a sunny spot, and they thrive all summer long! Remember, early sowing = longer blooming.
What is the difference between a Zinnia and a double zinnia?
A Zinnia usually has a single row of petals, showing off its pretty central disk—like a daisy with flair. A Double Zinnia? It’s extra fancy! It has multiple layers of petals, making it look fuller, fluffier, and garden-party ready. Both are gorgeous, but the double’s got that wow factor!
What is the season for Zinnias?
Zinnias are warm-weather charmers! Their blooming season kicks off in late spring and goes strong through summer into early autumn. As long as the sun’s shining and the temps are toasty, they’re ready to party in your garden with bright, happy blooms.
What is the best fertilizer for Zinnias?
Zinnias are not too fussy, but they love a balanced fertilizer like Ugaoo's pink Bloom Sticks and Epsom Salt. Feed them every few weeks, and they’ll burst into bloom like it’s a flower fiesta! Just don’t overdo the nitrogen, or you’ll get all leaves and no petals.
