    Product Details

    Fresh green peas from your own garden taste completely different from anything you have bought in a packet. Sweet, crisp, and endlessly useful in Indian cooking, they are one of the most rewarding winter vegetables to grow at home.

    • Packed with plant protein, fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K, and antioxidants.
    • One of the most versatile winter vegetables used daily in Indian kitchens.
    • Great in matar paneer, pulao, soups, stir-fries, and fresh salads.

    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 2–3 cm deep directly in the pot. Peas don't like being moved, so direct sowing is best.
    • Soak seeds overnight before sowing for faster germination. We recommend Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: October to November, at the start of the cool season.
    • During this time, keep soil moist and maintain good humidity.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 5–8 days.
    • Keep soil moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with 4–6 hours of sunlight.
    Transplanting

    NA - Peas prefer direct sowing and don't like having their roots disturbed.

    Growing
    • Needs 4–6 hours of sunlight daily.
    • Water with a gentle spray when the topsoil feels dry. Don't overwater.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 10–15 cm apart, rows 30 cm apart.
    • Provide a trellis or bamboo stake for vines to climb.
    • Feed with cow manure every 15 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Don't let pods overmature. Overripe peas turn starchy and tough.
    • Once the weather warms from February, production drops quickly.
    • Pull the plant out once it stops producing. Peas naturally enrich the soil - follow with a leafy green.
    • Sow fresh seeds again the following October.
    Harvesting
    • Pods are ready in 55–60 days.
    • Hold the vine with one hand and pull the pod gently with the other.
    • Pick every 2–3 days. The more you harvest, the more it produces.
    • Pods should feel plump and firm - press gently, peas inside should feel round and full.
