For all the green thumbs, it has some of the best magical plants ever put to page or screen. We are introduced to them as Harry is during the series, and we learned about the complicated history of the magical plants in the wizarding world.

Whomping Willow:

First seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, this a large tree that attempts to injure anyone who approaches it. It has thick, bare branches that are always ready to go on the offensive but that is only because it is hiding a deep secret from the rest of the students at Hogwarts school. Mandrake:


This baby-like plant, also known as Mandragora, was first depicted in the second installation of the series. It looks like a human baby that utters a constant and deafening cry which can be fatal once the plant has matured. But it also has powerful healing abilities.

Devil's snare:


This deadly plant played an antagonistic role in the first movie, blocking the entrance to the philosopher's stone. It tends to strangle people that get trapped in it and agitate about too much. But if you stay still, this plant lets you pass. And it is very vulnerable to sunlight.

Dittany:


A significant part of the Harry Potter games, the dittany is a primary ingredient of the Wiggenweld Potion. This potion wakes those who have been put in an enchanted sleep. It also cures powerful stomach aches and sometimes acts as an aphrodisiac.

The floral rival of the dittany is the asphodel because it is used as an ingredient in the Draught of the Living Dead. This is a potion that can put a person into a powerful state of enchanted sleep. Outside of the potion, it is an antispasmodic herb that warms the body.

Gillyweed:


Eaten by Harry during the Triwizard Tournament in the fourth book, this plant helps you to develop gills and webbed hands and feet to improve movement under water. The effects of this plant stay on for approximately an hour, depending on whether it is freshwater or saltwater.

Fluxweed:


As part of the Polyjuice Potion, fluxweed helps in altering your appearance to help you look like someone else. It is also known as the False Pennyroyal and is said to be endangered in the wizarding world. It also can heal or stitch up wounds, mend broken bones and often relieve people of their stomach aches. Eat healthy vegetables to boost your health.
