Product Details
Arugula is a peppery, fast-growing salad green. It's a great way to add a bit of bite to home-grown greens. One of the quickest crops to go from seed to plate.
- Rich in vitamin K, vitamin C, and folate
- One of the fastest greens to harvest, ready in just a few weeks
- Toss it into salads, sandwiches, pastas, or as a peppery garnish
- Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Veggie Mix Soil, chemical-free arugula all year round
Sowing
- Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep directly in the pot. Use Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
- Best time to sow: October to February, avoiding peak summer heat.
- Keep it in a bright spot during this time. Maintain good humidity.
Germination
Seeds sprout in 4–7 days.
Keep soil moist during this period.
Once sprouts appear, move to a spot with direct sun.
Growing
- Needs direct sun, at least 4–5 hours daily; partial shade is fine in warmer months.
- Water with a gentle spray daily. Soil should be well-draining.
- Space plants 10–15 cm apart, rows 20–25 cm apart.
- Feed with Ugaoo's cow manure every 15 days. Use Ugaoo's neem cake and Ugaoo's neem oil spray to keep pests away.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Don't let leaves sit too long on the plant. Older leaves turn tougher and more bitter.
- If a flower stalk appears in the centre, the plant is bolting. Harvest everything right away.
- Warmer temperatures from March onwards trigger bolting.
- Once the stalk appears, pull the plant out. Sow fresh next cool season.
Harvesting
- Baby leaves are ready in 25–30 days.
- Cut outer leaves near the base. Leave the centre to keep growing.
- Harvest regularly. The more you prune, the more it produces.
- You can harvest arugula for 2–3 cycles before it turns too peppery and bolts.
