    Gaillardia, or Blanket Flower, is one of the most vivid and heat-tolerant flowering plants you can grow in India. Fiery red and orange blooms that keep going through the warmest months with very little care.

    • Vivid red, orange, and yellow daisy-like blooms that flower continuously through warm months.
    • Extremely heat and drought tolerant; thrives when other flowers struggle.
    • A magnet for butterflies and bees; great for pollinator-friendly gardens.
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Potting Mix, chemical-free blooms all season long.

    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray. We recommend Ugaoo's Potting Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: February to May, when the weather is warm.
    • During this time, keep it in a warm, bright spot and maintain good humidity.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 10–15 days.
    • Keep soil moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct morning sun.
    Transplanting
    • Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 3–4 true leaves, usually after 20–25 days.
    • We suggest transplanting into a pot or garden bed (at least 25 cm deep) with Ugaoo's Potting Mix.
    • Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day to reduce transplant shock.
    • Water well after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 1–2 days before moving to full sun.
    Growing
    • Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily. More sun means more flowers.
    • Water when the topsoil feels dry. Gaillardia is drought tolerant - don't overwater.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 30–40 cm apart.
    • Feed with cow manure every 20 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    • Deadhead spent flowers regularly - the more you remove, the more the plant produces.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Gaillardia is a short-lived perennial. In India it often flowers well for 2 seasons.
    • Cut back hard after the main flush to encourage a second round of flowering.
    • Collect dried seed heads and save seeds for next season.
    • Sow fresh seeds each February for the most reliable results.

    • Flowers bloom in 60–80 days.
    • Cut in the morning for the best vase life.
