Product Details

Portulaca Mix is a low-growing, heat-loving annual. It's known for its vibrant, rose-like blooms that open wide in full sun. A tough, cheerful choice for Indian summer gardens.

Produces bright blooms in pink, red, orange, yellow, and white
Thrives in heat and needs very little care once established
Great for borders, hanging pots, rock gardens, and sunny balconies

Sowing

Sow seeds 0.25 cm deep (barely covered) directly in the pot. Use Ugaoo's Pot-o-Mix for better results.
Best time to sow: February to April.
Keep it in a bright spot during this time. Maintain good humidity.
Sprouts appear in 7–10 days.

Germination

Seeds sprout in 5–10 days.
Keep soil moist during this period, but don't let seeds get washed away; mist gently rather than pouring water.
Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.

Growing

Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily. Blooms close up in shade or low light.
Water sparingly, allowing soil to dry out between your watering schedule. Portulaca is drought-tolerant and doesn't like wet soil.
Use a pot with drainage holes.
Space plants 15–20 cm apart, rows 20–25 cm apart.
Feed with Ugaoo's cow manure sparingly, once every 25–30 days. Use Ugaoo's neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.

Aftercare & Post-Harvest

Don't worry if blooms close each day; this is natural. New ones open the next sunny day.
Reduced flowering and leggy stems signal the plant is nearing the end of its cycle.
Portulaca self-seeds easily. Fallen seeds can sprout new plants nearby on their own.
Once flowering slows down significantly, pull the plant out and sow fresh seeds for the next season.

Harvesting

Flowers are ready for harvest/blooming in 40–50 days.
Blooms open in bright sunlight and close by late afternoon or in low light.
A healthy plant can keep flowering continuously through the summer.
