Product Details
Red Round Radish is the fastest vegetable you can grow at home. Bright, crisp, and mildly peppery, it goes from seed to table in under a month and looks wonderful on any plate.
- Ready in 20–30 days; one of the fastest crops for home gardens.
- Bright red, round, crisp roots with a mild peppery flavour.
- Rich in vitamin C, folate, and fibre.
- Both the root and the leaves are edible and great in salads and raita.
Approx. seeds per gram: 90
Sowing
- Sow seeds 1–1.5 cm deep directly in the pot. Radish must be direct sown - transplanting causes forked roots.
- Mix seeds with a little sand for more even spreading. We recommend Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
- Best time to sow: October to January, in the cool season.
- Keep soil moist from day one. Radish germinates very fast.
Germination
- Seeds sprout in 3–5 days - radish is one of the fastest germinators you'll come across.
- Keep soil moist during this period.
- Once sprouts appear, thin to 5–8 cm apart and move to a sunny spot.
Transplanting
NA - Radish must be direct sown. Transplanting causes forked, deformed roots.
Growing
- Needs 5–6 hours of sunlight daily.
- Water daily to keep soil consistently moist. Dry spells cause roots to crack and turn very pungent.
- Use a pot at least 20 cm deep with drainage holes.
- Space plants 5–8 cm apart, rows 15–20 cm apart.
- Don't over-fertilise with nitrogen - it promotes leaves over roots.
- Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Red Round Radish doesn't regrow after harvest. Sow a fresh batch every 2–3 weeks for a continuous supply.
- Temperatures above 25°C cause radish to bolt and turn bitter.
- Once a flower stalk appears, the root is no longer good to eat.
- Sow in staggered batches for a steady winter supply.
Harvesting
- Roots are ready in 20–30 days - one of the fastest crops you can grow.
- Harvest when roots are about 3–4 cm in diameter and visible at the soil surface.
- Pull gently by grasping the greens at the base.
- Don't leave roots in the soil after they mature - they become pithy and overpungent.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Red round radish called?
That bright, crunchy red round radish is commonly called Cherry Belle! It’s a popular heirloom variety known for its vibrant skin, crisp white flesh, and mild, peppery flavor. Super quick to grow and fun to munch — Cherry Belle is the radish world’s cute little rockstar!
What is the best time to grow Radishes?
Radishes grow best in the cool, comfy seasons! Sow them in early spring (February–April) or autumn (October–December) when the weather isn’t too hot. They love temperatures between 10°C to 25°C. In India, winter is peak radish season — you’ll get crisp, juicy roots in just 4–6 weeks. Fast, fun, and super satisfying!
How to successfully grow Radishes?
To grow Red Round Radish seeds like a pro, start them directly in a loose, well-drained medium with plenty of sun. Keep the growing medium moist but not soggy. Within just 4-10 days, your seeds will be sprouting to life! Once this happens and you begin to see at least two true leaves, transplant your radish seeds into well-draining soil like Ugaoo's Pot-O-Mix or Garden Soil Mix. Thin the seedlings once they sprout to give roots room to grow. Harvest in 4–6 weeks for the best crunch. Quick tip: don’t wait too long — older radishes get woody!
What is the climate requirement for Radishes?
Radishes are cool-season champs! They grow best in mild climates with temperatures between 10°C to 25°C. Too much heat makes them bolt (flower early) and turn bitter. They love sunny days, cool nights, and well-drained soil (hello Ugaoo's Garden Soil Mix!). So, think spring or autumn — when the weather’s just right for crunchy, happy radishes in your garden!
