Red Round Radish Seeds

• Sow seeds 1–1.5 cm deep directly in the pot. Radish must be direct sown - transplanting causes forked roots.
• Mix seeds with a little sand for more even spreading. We recommend Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
• Best time to sow: October to January, in the cool season.
• Keep soil moist from day one. Radish germinates very fast.

• Seeds sprout in 3–5 days - radish is one of the fastest germinators you'll come across.
• Keep soil moist during this period.
• Once sprouts appear, thin to 5–8 cm apart and move to a sunny spot.

• Water daily to keep soil consistently moist. Dry spells cause roots to crack and turn very pungent.
• Use a pot at least 20 cm deep with drainage holes.

• Don't over-fertilise with nitrogen - it promotes leaves over roots.
• Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.

• Red Round Radish doesn't regrow after harvest. Sow a fresh batch every 2–3 weeks for a continuous supply.
• Temperatures above 25°C cause radish to bolt and turn bitter.
• Once a flower stalk appears, the root is no longer good to eat.
• Sow in staggered batches for a steady winter supply.

• Roots are ready in 20–30 days - one of the fastest crops you can grow.
• Harvest when roots are about 3–4 cm in diameter and visible at the soil surface.
• Pull gently by grasping the greens at the base.
• Don't leave roots in the soil after they mature - they become pithy and overpungent.
