    Product Details

Rudbeckia, or Black-Eyed Susan, is one of the most cheerful and heat-tough flowers you can grow in India. Golden petals with that iconic dark eye, blooming hard through the warmest months.

    • Golden yellow petals with a striking dark brown centre; vivid and instantly recognisable.
    • Extremely heat and drought tolerant; thrives through Indian summer with minimal care.
    • Long flowering season; attracts butterflies and bees to your garden.
    • Grow it organically with Ugaoo's Potting Mix, sunny blooms all season long.
    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray. We recommend Ugaoo's Potting Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: February to May, when the weather is warm.
    • During this time, keep it in a warm, bright spot and maintain good humidity.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 7-14 days.
    • Keep soil moist during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct morning sun.
    Transplanting
    • Transplant once seedlings have 3-4 true leaves, usually after 20-25 days.
    • Transplant into a pot (at least 25 cm deep) with Ugaoo's Potting Mix.
    • Transplant in the evening to reduce shock. Water well after.
    Growing
    • Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily.
    • Water when the topsoil feels dry. Rudbeckia is drought tolerant; don't overwater.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 30-40 cm apart.
    • Feed with cow manure every 20 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Rudbeckia handles Indian summer heat very well and keeps blooming longer than most flowers.
    • Cut back hard after the main blooming period to encourage a second flush.
    • Pull out and sow fresh the following February when the plant is spent.
    Harvesting
    • Flowers bloom in 60-90 days.
    • Cut flowers in the morning for the best vase life.
    • Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms.
    • A healthy plant can flower for 3-4 months.

    Frequently asked questions

What is another name for Rudbeckia?

Rudbeckia is also famously known as Black-eyed Susan! With its sunny yellow petals and dark, chocolatey center, it’s a garden favorite that brings instant cheer. Whether you call it Rudbeckia or Black-eyed Susan, this bloomer is all about bold color and pollinator-friendly vibes. Brighten up your garden — one daisy-like bloom at a time!

    Where does Rudbeckia grow best?

Rudbeckia grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. It loves open, sunny spots where it can sunbathe for at least 6–8 hours daily. Give it space to spread and it’ll thrive in raised garden beds, borders, or wildflower patches. It’s low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, and blooms like a champ — a true sunshine-lover in the garden!

    When to plant Rudbeckia seeds?

Plant Rudbeckia seeds in early spring after the last frost, or late summer for blooms next season. They love warmth and light to germinate, so sow them in a sunny spot. Just sprinkle, pat, and water lightly— no deep digging needed. Soon, you’ll be on your way to a garden full of golden glow!

How long does it take for Rudbeckia seeds to bloom?

Rudbeckia seeds usually take 90 to 100 days to go from sprout to bloom, so a little patience goes a long way! How soon do they germinate? Wait for just 14-21 days and you'll see them sprout wonderfully! Sow them in early spring, and by late summer, you’ll have a stunning show of golden, daisy-like flowers.
