    Product Details

Salvia Blue is a tall, striking flower with vivid blue-purple spikes that draw butterflies and bees and add vertical drama to any garden space. Heat-loving and long-flowering.

    • Tall blue-purple flower spikes that add vivid colour and vertical interest.
    • A magnet for butterflies and bees; great for pollinator-friendly gardens.
    • Long flowering season through the warm months with very little care.
    • Grow it organically in Ugaoo's Potting Mix, chemical-free blooms all season long.
    Sowing
    • Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in a seedling tray. Do not bury them too deep; they need light to germinate well.
    • Use Ugaoo's Potting Mix for better results.
    • Best time to sow: February to May, when the weather is warm.
    • Keep it in a warm spot with some light and maintain good humidity. Cover the top lightly if needed.
    Germination
    • Seeds sprout in 10–21 days. Salvia can be slow to germinate, so patience is needed.
    • Keep soil moist but not waterlogged during this period.
    • Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct morning sun.
    Transplanting
    • Seedlings are ready to transplant once they have 3–4 true leaves, usually after 20–25 days.
    • Transplant into a pot or garden bed (at least 25 cm deep) with Ugaoo's Potting Mix.
    • Transplant in the evening or on a cloudy day to reduce transplant shock.
    • Water well after transplanting and keep in partial shade for 1–2 days before moving to full sun.
    Growing
    • Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily. More sun means stronger, taller spikes.
    • Water when the topsoil feels dry. Avoid overwatering.
    • Use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Space plants 30–40 cm apart, rows 35–40 cm apart.
    • Feed with cow manure every 20 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
    • Pinch back young plants to encourage bushier growth and more flower spikes.
    Aftercare & Post-Harvest
    • Reduced flowering and weaker stems signal the plant is nearing the end of its cycle.
    • Once flowering slows significantly, cut back hard to encourage a flush of new growth.
    • In very hot or very cold conditions, growth slows naturally.
    • Pull out and sow fresh for the next season if the plant does not regenerate after cutting back.
    Harvesting
    • Flower spikes are ready to bloom in 70–90 days.
    • Cut spikes in the morning for the best vase life, snipping just above a leaf node.
    • Prune dead flowers regularly to encourage new blooms.
    • A healthy plant can flower continuously for 2–3 months.

Can you grow Blue salvia from seed?

Absolutely! Growing Blue salvia from seed is super simple! Start by sowing the seeds indoors about 6–8 weeks before the last frost. In just 70-75 days, your garden will be laced with stunning Blue Salvia flowers!
