Product Details
Sowing
- Sow seeds 0.5-1 cm deep in a seedling tray. We recommend Ugaoo's Organic Veggie Mix for better results.
- Best time to sow: June to July, or September to October in milder regions.
- During this time, keep it indoors in low light and maintain good humidity.
Germination
- Seeds sprout in 8-14 days. Capsicum is slower to germinate, so patience helps.
- Keep soil moist during this period.
- Once sprouts appear, move to a bright spot with direct sun.
Growing
- Needs direct sun, at least 6 hours daily.
- Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist. Avoid waterlogging.
- Use a pot with drainage holes.
- Space plants 40-45 cm apart.
- Stake the plant once fruits start forming, as branches can bend under their weight.
- Feed with cow manure every 15 days. Use neem cake and neem oil spray to keep pests away.
Aftercare & Post-Harvest
- Don't let ripe fruits sit too long on the plant. They can soften, wrinkle, or attract pests.
- Reduced flowering and smaller fruit signal the plant is nearing the end of its cycle.
- Extreme heat can cause flowers to drop; give afternoon shade in peak summer.
- Once production stops, pull the plant and sow fresh next season.
Harvesting
- Fruits are ready in 75-90 days from transplanting.
- Fruits start green and turn bright yellow as they ripen. Harvest once they are fully yellow and firm.
- Cut the fruit with a little stem attached using clean scissors; don't pull.
- Regular picking encourages more flowers and fruit.

Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest way to germinate capsicum seeds?
To make your Yellow Capsicum seeds sprout faster, soak them in warm water for 8–12 hours before sowing to soften the seed coat. Then, plant them in moist, well-draining soil and keep them warm (around 25–30°C). Covering the pot with a clear lid or plastic wrap helps trap humidity for quicker germination—usually in 14-18 days!
How long does it take to grow yellow capsicum?
Yellow capsicum takes around 55-60 days from sowing to harvest. Start seeds early, give them lots of sunshine, warmth, and consistent watering. The fruits first appear green and slowly turn sunny yellow as they ripen—be patient, and your garden will reward you with a sweet, vibrant crunch!
What do we call yellow capsicum?
Yellow capsicum is often called yellow bell pepper. It’s sweet, juicy, and basically sunshine in veggie form! Unlike its green cousin, it’s fully ripe and milder in flavor. Whether you're tossing it in salads or roasting it to perfection, this vibrant veggie adds a pop of color and a crunch of goodness to every bite!
What is the growing season for capsicum?
Capsicum plants love the warmth! The best growing season in India is from late winter to early summer—think February to April. In cooler regions, you can even plant in summer for a monsoon harvest. Just make sure they get lots of sunlight, warmth, and well-draining soil to thrive happily!
