How to plant clarkia seeds:
  • Sow the seeds in early June for the flowers to bloom in August.
  • The seeds should be sown straight in to the ground. Make sure that the space where seeds are sown is weed free.
  • Rake the soil to create a fine top. The make 5mm deep drills. Space the rows about 15cm apart.
  • Water the soil before sowing only if it is dry and then allow the drill to drain. Sprinkle the seeds thinly along the drill and cover up with soil. When the plants grow, they get crowded. So, thin them out to 10 – 15cm apart.
  • During the dry weather keep the plants watered. Once they are full grown the plants become drought tolerant.
  • Plant Clarkia and enjoy pink, white, red and purple flowers.
